AIFST x Dr Courtney Stewart
Dr Courtney Stewart was invited by the Australian Institute of Food Science and Technology (AIFST) to present at the QLD Food Science Masterclass for Food & Nutrition Teachers on 17th March.
Her presentation, Nutrition across the lifecycle in a changing food landscape, walked teachers through the evolving evidence and emerging trends shaping how Australians eat at every stage of life – from pre-conception through to older adulthood.
The session covered pre-conception, pregnancy and lactation nutrition, childhood nutrition, adolescent nutrition, nutrition for adults, and nutrition for older adults. Across these life stages, Dr Stewart unpacked the trends reshaping the food landscape and the conversations happening in classrooms, clinics and supermarket aisles – including post-IVF fries, trimester zero, lactation snacks, ultraprocessed foods, the protein everything movement, creatine, personalised nutrition, Ozempic, functional foods, and the ongoing dairy versus plant-based debate.
Feedback from attending teachers highlighted the value of having current, evidence-based insights they could take directly back into their classrooms.
This presentation highlights Courtney’s expertise in nutrition science across the lifecycle, her ability to translate complex regulatory and nutrition topics into practical insights, and her experience delivering tailored content for diverse professional audiences.
